SubZero Constructors Attends the 42nd ESOP Association National Conference

Employee owned SubZero Constructors jumped at the opportunity to attend the 2019 ESOP National Conference at the amazing JW Marriot in historic downtown Washington DC (May 22-24).

On the Forefront of Education

As part of an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP), it is critical that SubZero continually remain on the forefront of education to further our employee ownership culture.  Chair of SubZero’s ESOP Communication Committee, Brent Osborn, mentioned “this was my second year attending an ESOP conference, and I was blown away by the amount of quality workshop sessions available and even more impressed by the informative instructors and their passion for ESOP’s in the workplace. It was quite surreal”.

Keynote Speaker Frank Luntz

The National Conference is the largest ESOP event of its kind. The two-day event offers an extensive collection of interesting and educational sessions.   Highlighted by talks led by some of the industries brightest key note speakers, in particular Frank Luntz.

Mr. Luntz is recognized as one of the most honored communication professionals in America. “He is by far and away, the most interesting and powerful speaker that I have ever encountered. His ability to entertain, be humorous, and get his point across, while captivating a room of 700+ professionals was mind blowing”, says Osborn.

Employee Ownership at SubZero Constructors and Implementing Fresh Ideas

SubZero is an industry leader in cold storage construction.  The company motto Degrees Beyond, sums up our “can do it” attitude in everything we do. Employee ownership is just another benchmark of what makes our team stand out from the competition. It creates a sense of pride in performance and teamwork at all levels within SubZero. The better we serve our clients the better we do as employee owners!

The challenge ahead for Osborn and the rest of the ESOP Committee is taking what was learned at the conference and implementing it into action.   Osborn has already seen the employee ownership culture embraced by all at SubZero since we started our ESOP in 2015, but the Committee is always looking for fresh ideas to reinforce our employee ownership principles to our new hires.  According to Osborn, empowering our new employees to think like owners as well as reinforcing this mentality to our existing employees is the task of our Committee.
